As the school year comes to a close Brenda Dater, author of Parenting without Panic, provides practical ideas and strategies for parenting without panic all summer long, incorporating real-life stories, validation, and hope to empower the parents of children with special needs.
This session will be devoted to providing parents with an opportunity to share their experiences and concerns, and to listen to Brenda talk about what she has learned from parenting her own children with special needs.
Topics will include:
• When to talk to your child about their diagnosis
• Understanding behaviors of children on the spectrum
• How to foster resilience in your child
• How to build compassion and flexibility among siblings
• How to bring a little less chaos to your daily life
Signed books will be available for purchase (cash or check only), and coffee and dessert will be provided.

Commonwealth Learning Center is located in the Riverbend Office Park at 220 Reservoir Street, Suite 6. This location is just west of 128 (Interstate 95) at Exit 19B. Proceed straight from the exit (approx. 0.1 mi.) Then take a right at the first stop light onto Gould St which ends at Central Ave (0.7 mi). Take a right onto Central Ave and take the 3rd right (less than 0.1 mi) onto Reservoir Street. The Office park is almost immediately on the left across from Brother’s Pizza.
