It has been said that the artwork of children might be the purest form of art. Dozens of examples of youthful artistic expression will be on display at The Children's Museum in March as the museum celebrates Youth Art Month. The public is invited to view dozens of works of art created by Portsmouth students in grades K-12 at The Children's Museum's annual Youth Art Month exhibit open March 1-31. These works are selected by art teachers from the cityıs elementary, middle and high schools, and showcase the breadth of media and techniques that are explored in todayıs art classes. In past years, this exhibit has included everything from pencil and charcoal drawing to sculpture, collage, painting and more.
The public is invited to toast the young artists and their visual arts teachers with refreshments at a special reception on Tuesday, March 6 from 3:30 5:00 p.m.
Gallery 280 is open Tuesday Saturday from 10:00am - 5:00pm and on Sundays from 1:00pm - 5:00pm. There is no charge to view Gallery 280 exhibits. Regular admission rates apply for families wishing to explore the rest of the museum: $6.00 adults and children, $5.00 seniors, free for members and children under 1.
