“Extreme Field Day” Obstacle Race for Kids Comes to Boston Area
October 19th competition designed by experts intended to build strength, stamina, mental toughness and camaraderie in young athletes; Canton, Mass.

– October 2013 – Extreme Field Day, Where Kids Play Hard, Have Fun & Get Really Dirty!

Obstacle racing for young athletes ranging from 4 thru 15 years old is making its way to the Boston area.

On Saturday, October 19th, Extreme Field Day will be held on the beautiful fields of the Irish Cultural Center – located on Route 138 in Canton, Mass.

Obstacle course races are sweeping the country.

They offer a fun and exciting new way to get outside to have fun with your friends and family.

The difficulty with many of these style races is they are not designed for children.

Extreme Field Day offers young athletes the ability to experience the fun at a scaled down version just for them.

A break from the sterile indoor play spaces, Extreme Field Day gets kids outside and challenges them as well as their peers on expertly prepared obstacle courses.

The course will have kids running, climbing over and under walls and cargo nets, scaling ramps and most of all, getting really really dirty!

“In recent years, these ‘extreme’ type of races have become more and more popular, but young kids, who would really enjoy the obstacle nature of these competitions, haven’t had many options to try them out,” says race organizer and Canton resident, Theresa Hickey.

“Families are excited to spend a fun day together outside.

This is our third race and each has been bigger and better than the last one.”
All participants will receive an Extreme Field Day medal and Extreme Field day t-shirt, there will be face painting, balloon animals, fun and music all day.
Extreme Field day events are up to 2 mile obstacle courses designed by experts to test your all-around strength, stamina, agility, mental toughness and camaraderie.

This event will be held rain or shine.

As most obstacle racers agree, the muddier the better!
Extreme Field Day events will include shorter races for the younger athletes and will increase in difficulty for each age group.

Each heat will increase in length and numbers of obstacles, culminating with the 13, 14 and 15 year olds who will compete in an inspiring run with obstacles.
Theresa has a proven track record in the obstacle course industry.

Having come from the Spartan Brand race company, which is geared toward adults and tends to be more intense and competitive, she realized that there were not any obstacle races for young children, and decided to launch her company last year in her hometown of Canton.

She’s confident that they will sell out the October 19th race and urges families to sign up now as space is limited.
