Lecture and Book Signing with Robert AllisonSuffolk University professor Robert Allison begins the annual commemoration with a talk on his new book, The Boston Massacre. Followed by discussion and refreshments. This event is part of a series of events commemorating The Bostonian Society's 237th anniversary of the Boston Massacre.

About the Society
The Bostonian Society was founded in 1881 to save Boston’s historic Old State House, which was to be dismantled and relocated to Chicago. Since that time, the Society has operated the Old State House as an historic site and museum of Boston’s history. (Built in 1713, the Old State House is the city’s oldest public building.) Today, The Bostonian Society serves as the city’s historical society. Its mission is to strengthen the fabric of civil society by building meaningful connections to Boston and all Bostonians—past, present, and future—through the creative use of public history. Serving a city with a rich historical legacy, The Society illuminates all aspects of Boston’s history, the contributions of its citizens, and the strength and continuity of its diverse neighborhoods.

In addition to managing the Old State House, the Society maintains a research library on Boston history, and an important collection of historical artifacts. It organizes educational activities for students, exhibitions in the Old State House and in other venues, and programs for families and the general public, including the city’s historic markers program. The Bostonian Society is a not-for-profit organization, with membership open to all. Additional information may be found at the society’s web site, www.bostonhistory.org.

The Bostonian Society is pleased to partner with the City of Boston and the Boston National Historical Park.
