This December school vacation week, bring the family and warm up with music and crafts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Activities revolve around the theme “Winter Song,” inspired by a choirbook in the Gardner collection

Isabella Stewart Gardner, an avid art collector, was given a choirbook rescued from a shipwreck off Naples in the 1600s.

The large, mysterious book is a favorite at the Museum.

In light of Isabella’s appreciation for music, come explore early music notation as seen in the choirbook.

Activities include:
Bertucci Education Studio, 11 am – 4 pm Compose your own short musical composition in the Studio and experiment with luxurious materials similar to those found in the special exhibition Beyond Words.

Calderwood Hall, throughout the day Create musical arrangements using your whole body!

Electric Violinist Josh Knowles brings your composition to life and riffs on a melody you create.

Historic Palace, 11 am – 4 pm
