Enjoy doggie-inspired treats for humans, listen to stories of seafaring hounds, sing along to shaggy shanty tunes, and meet a real Navy Yard work dog! Then follow Guerriere’s paw prints to our upstairs exhibit, All Hands on Deck: A Sailor’s Life in 1812, where you can join Guerriere and the rest of the crew and hoist a sail, fire a cannon, swing in a hammock and scrub the deck!

From 1:30-3:00 Tammy the dog, the star of the book Tammy Does Boston will join us for a special book signing – a “paw-tograph” session. Learn more about Tammy's adventures in Boston at www.tammydoesboston.com

More about Guerriere the Terrier: Guerriere was a rat terrier brought on board Ship in 1814 by Lt. Beekman Van Hoffman. He was a real member of the crew, doing his part to rid the ship of rats. He went above and beyond though by helping to haul on ropes and keeping an eye on the horizon to alert the crew to approaching sails.

Take Guerriere on your travels this year! Guerriere traveled the world on board USS Constitution and now he can go where you go. Color and decorate a Flat Guerriere at the Museum and take pictures of him wherever he goes. Check out where he’s been already in our lobby case and send in pictures of him on your travels. We’ll feature some of them in the Museum and on our Facebook page!
