Disciples, UCC has partnered with families with children with special needs, special needs educators, and adult leaders with disabilities to create worship space that highlights the gifts of people with disabilities and allows the whole family to worship together.
Through music, an open 'no shushing' environment, storytelling and diverse leadership, parents, children, siblings, grandparents, and friends have a positive, uplifting and empowering Sunday afternoon.
Each week someone with a disability is our storyteller of the day, scripture is experienced through sensory exploration, and music is engaging and singable.
Each week we share the resurrection story at the table and receive communion together as we remember that we belong to God.
At 5pm there is a shared dinner where the 4pm service (sensory based worship for families with special needs children and young adults) and our 6pm service (a more traditional multi generational service of scripture, music and communion) share time together.
Parents can eat while joining in a Bible study group.
Children can eat while they engage in Sunday School with professional and joyful teachers.
