19th-century statesman and orator Edward Everett (portrayed by Jim Cooke) and President Abraham Lincoln (portrayed by Phillip Chetwynd) discuss that fateful day in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 1865. Deborah Anne Goss performs anti-slavery songs and rallies support for the President. Everett once lived in what is now the Longfellow NHS and the home's namesake, the poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, was a strong supporter of Lincoln. SoloTogether presents this afternoon of 1860s abolitionism.

Part of the Longfellow Summer Festival 2009. All events are free and held on the East Lawn of the historic Longfellow National Historic Site - rain or shine.
