The Color Purple is a musical based upon the novel written by Alice Walker and the Warner Bros./Amblin Entertainment Motion Picture. All her life, Celie has known only hardship and cruelty. But with every reason to despair, Celie clings to hope, and the promise that love will lead her to healing and joy.

The Color Purple contains adult themes and brief nudity. At the Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts in the South End.

Excellent ages 11 and up

A bit adult in places, but very moving and fantastic music. If you saw the movie, you know what to expect. This is the second Speakeasy Stage production I've seen, and they were both New York quality at reasonable prices. Sure beats what it costs to see a national tour in the Theatre District.
