BOSTON MIDSUMMER OPERA
Presents
Gaetano Donizetti’s
The Elixer of Love

Is this the real thing, or a conman’s concoction? All will be revealed, as the Boston Midsummer Opera (BMO) presents Gaetano Donizetti’s The Elixer of Love for its twelfth season. Three performances will presented, on July 26, 28 and 30, at the Mainstage at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, Watertown (formerly the Arsenal Center for the Arts).

Hapless peasant Nemorino (Eric Barry) is head over heels in love with Adina (Joanna Mongiardo), but to no avail. When Adina promises to marry Sargent Belcore (Keith Phares), he seeks out a love potion from a travelling quack, Dr. Dulcamara (Jason Budd), with which he hopes will turn her head despite the fact that it smells suspiciously like cheap Bordeaux. He’s convinced it’s working when the Giannetta (Erica Petrocelli) and the village girls start to pay him some attention. Adina is mad with jealousy. Can it be that she loves him after all?

The Elixer of Love will be sung in Italian with English super titles. A pre-opera talk will be presented one hour before each performance.

Founded in 2006, Boston Midsummer Opera creates vibrant experiences designed to ward off the summer doldrums. BMO makes opera both accessible and affordable by mounting dynamic productions with nationally and internationally known artists that will attract new listeners as well as appeal to discriminating opera fans.

Performances of The Elixer of Love are Wednesday, July 26 and Friday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, July 30 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mainstage at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, Watertown (formerly the Arsenal Center for the Arts).

Tickets, priced at $62.00 to $52.00 for all performances, are on sale at www.bostonmidsummeropera.org, by calling Mosesian Center for the Arts box office at 617-923-8487, or by mailing a request to Boston Midsummer Opera, PO Box 301 Charles Street Station, Boston, MA 02114.
