Tours cover the 1870’s kitchen and the first and second floors of the house, and they last about 1 hour. With its interior restored to a circa 19th-century appearance, the house and the rooms are furnished with original objects owned and used by four generations of Forbes Family members dating back to the 1830’s.

Regular Tour Schedule
Tours are available every Thursday, Friday and Saturday throughout the year at 11 a.m. or 2 p.m., excluding special holidays. For groups larger than 10 people, please call ahead at least 24 hours in advance: 617.696.1815.
Group Tours at Forbes House Museum
The museum offers group tours for school and youth groups, scouts, seniors, and community organizations. Our staff can create a tour experience to meet your curriculum needs and/or interests. Advance reservations are required for all group tours.
Reservations should be made at least four weeks in advance by calling the museum office at 617.696.1815. A deposit is required no later than 10 days after scheduling a tour.
One chaperone per 15 students is required and admitted free. Licensed professional bus drivers are admitted free.
Tour Rates
Admission is $10 per person for adults and $8 for seniors (age 62 and over) and students; members and children under age 5 are free. The museum grounds are open to the public free of charge daily from dawn to dusk (see commercial photography restrictions below).

Museum Tour Regulations
One adult supervisor is required for every 15 students.
Adult supervisors must stay with their group and are responsible for maintaining discipline.
Visitors are not allowed to touch museum exhibits unless permitted to do so.
Cameras without flash and video recording devices are allowed.
No food or drinks are allowed in exhibit areas.
No backpacks or large bags are allowed on tours.
We recommend that visitors wear walking shoes or sneakers (open toe/heel shoes are not recommended).
Pencils (no pens, please) are required for taking notes in the Museum galleries.
Please be respectful of other Museum visitors at all times.
Visitors should adhere to indoor behavior in the Museum galleries (please no running or shouting).
Visitors should refrain from bringing pocket or electronic devices such as games or other distractions.
Photography is permitted on Museum grounds for personal, non-commercial use only–except by permit.
Contact the director for a commercial permit ($50 per hour). Commercial photography includes family and/or individual photography sessions and photography for use in advertising, merchandising, or product placement.
