Starting off from the PMPM, every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., the walking tours will travel back in time giving visitors a look at the most historic locations and buildings in Provincetown including the Pilgrim Monument, Atlantic House, Benjamin Lancy Mansion and Provincetown Town Hall.
The tour begins with a rich overview of Provincetown history at the PMPM and also the breathtaking 360-degree view of Cape Cod from the top of the Monument.
Then, tour ventures into town and stops at different sites and buildings.
The tour visits the recently renovated Town Hall to view both the historic building and the paintings in the town’s art collection featuring masterpieces from Charles Hawthorne who founded the Cape Cod School of Art in 1890 and his students, Ross Moffet and Henry Hensche.
Tour-goers will also visit the Provincetown Library to see the remarkable half-scale model of the Rose Dorothea and the impressive Lipton Cup she won in the Fishermen’s Race.
The Historic Walking Tour travels around the streets of Provincetown for about two miles and takes two hours.
Reservations are required as the popular walking tours fill up quickly.
Tickets are $20 per person, which includes tour and PMPM museum/monument admission.
The tour includes buildings which are not handicapped accessible.
The tour is weather permitting and is not suitable for small children, and no dogs.
