Others to Consider: Stephen Anthony's Restaurant, Not Your Average Joe's, Durgin Park, Full Moon Restaurant, Classic CafeScandia Restaurant, located in downtown Amesbury, hardly grabs one's attention from the street. It is narrow, marked by a small, unimposing sign. The real advantage to this restaurant's location is the beautiful view out back, where deck seating is available in nice weather: it overlooks the rushing water of the Powow River.
Scandia offers three different dining experiences and four different menus: luncheon, brunch, dinner, and kids. With the exception of the kids menu, creative appetizers such as Crab Cakes Aoli and Warmed Goat Cheese & Portobello Bruschetta are offered at all times.
Lunch
The luncheon menu features soups, salads, sandwiches, and small entrees (such as the Scandia seafood chowder, made with clams, scallops, shrimp and lobster). Salads and sandwiches cost around $8 each; the average entree costs $10.
Lunch is served from 11:30 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Brunch
The brunch menu is similar to the luncheon menu, with the addition of a fresh fruit and pastry bar, as well as entrees such as Eggs Benedict or Florentine. The prices are similar to the luncheon menu, though a buffet is included when you purchase an entree.
Brunch is served from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm on Sundays.
Dinner
The dinner menu is classic and upscale, featuring baked brie, shrimp cocktail, chowders, salads, and entrees such as Seafood Linguine and Steak Dianne. Entrees average around $20.
Dinner is served from 5:00 pm - 9:30 pm every evening.
Kids
The Scandia kids menu offers a range of meals that will appeal to children of all ages and palettes. For the less-adventurous types, fruit salad, cheeseburgers, plain pasta, and even Fluffernutters are available. But also on the menu are clam chowder, Caesar salad, baked haddock, and grilled chicken breast & linguine.
High chairs are available, and the deck, with its views of rushing water, makes it easier for children to sit through a nice meal. Inside, the wait for meals doesn't seem as long when they can watch food being prepared in the open kitchen.
