In nice weather, people can almost always be seen sitting at the tables outside the shop, enjoying ice cream or coffee. Inside, the bright and cheery interior, with paintings of dogs on the walls, is inviting and very kid-friendly.
Maggie Sundae's main product is ice cream. The small-ish serving sizes are justified by the high quality of the ice cream: certain flavors feature dark chocolate chips, or 'truffles' (chocolate cups with different fillings), and the flavors themselves are rich and vibrant. Flavors range from standard vanilla and chocolate to the more creative 'Maggie Mud.' In addition to cups of ice cream, sundaes and smoothies are offered as well. Bring your dog along and treat him to a dog sundae: vanilla ice cream with dog bones!
Coffee, espresso drinks, and baked goods are also available at all times during the day. The shop is open from 7:00 am until 10:00 pm on the weekends; until 9:00 pm on weekdays, so it's entirely possible to visit more than once a day!
Directions
From Rt. 95: Take exit #58/Rt. 110-W onto Macy Street (Rt. 110) toward Amesbury. After a mile and a half, turn right onto Main Street. Drive for .7 mile, then turn left onto Friend Street.
From Rt. 495: Take exit #54/Rt. 150 onto Rt. 150 Ext toward Amesbury/Salisbury. Follow Rt. 150 for 1.7 miles until you reach Friend Street. Parking is available on the street.
