Others to Consider: Darwins Ltd., Martha's Bread Basket, S&S Deli, O Naturals, Manhattan Sammy's DeliBoston and Cambridge residents flock to Kupel's for some of the region's best bagels. While from its no-frills storefront Kupel's turns out challah, pastries, and a few oddball bagel flavors (like California health), the bakery concentrates on traditional bagels: salt, plain, egg, garlic and onion.
Everything sold in the store is Kosher. With the exception of the cream cheese, everything is pareve (means not dairy, not meat). The cream cheese is dairy (and Kosher).
A good selection of cream cheeses and pre-packaged hummus varieties are available.
They have won the award for best bagels in Boston from Boston Magazine multiple times. For those concerned, everything in the store except for the cream cheese is kosher and pareve and the store isn't open during the sabbath.
