The big building, located on the Great Bay in Dover, NH (also in Merrimack, NH, and South Portland, ME), houses a huge dining room as well as a sizeable gift shop. The windows in the dining room were recently updated to allow a water view from every table in the room!
Newick's is very kid-friendly, providing a paper menu and crayons for children. The very nature of the restaurant is excellent for children: it is laid-back, the tables are covered in plastic tablecloths, and it's busy and noisy enough that you don't have to remind your kids to 'keep it down!' The kids menu includes such favorites as cheeseburgers, pasta with marinara sauce, and chicken fingers.
The regular menu is surprisingly extensive. 5 kinds of chowder are offered, from Original Clam Chowder to Lobster Stew, and the appetizers are all of the deep-fried foods that you shouldn't be eating (although the food is fried in trans fat-free oil!). For meals, choose from the classic hand-breaded dinners, lobster (all caught locally), broiled seafood dinners, steaks, burgers, sandwiches, and salads. A 'Tide Me Over' section is available, offering smaller servings at lower prices.
The attached gift shop offers fresh seafood, homemade fudge, and a variety of local gifts. For just $2.50, you can buy a classic white 'Newick's Lobster House' sailor hat to remember your visit!
