The Frugal Flower: Frugal At Its Customers' Expense, Tue 12 May 2009

I paid $60 (+$15 1800flowers.com fee) for an arrangement of roses, lilies, carnations, and some pink and purple daisy-like flowers as advertised on 1800flowers.com for my wife this past Mother’s Day. The Frugal Flower sent me an arrangement with 15 daisy-like flowers and 4 roses (I counted). My daughter asked me if I got them at the grocery store. Some of the smaller, filler-type flowers were dying, brown, and droopy. I buy my wife flowers approximately 10 times per year. Based upon my experience, the Frugal Flower provides poor quality for the money you pay. Customer service is very poor too. I called to express my dissatisfaction; the manager, Craig, told me that he was positive I got my money's worth. He said I should expect only a $45 arrangement if I pay $75 online because the Frugal Flower also charges a $15 fee (in addition to the 1800flowers.com $15 fee). Despite Craig's badmouthing of 1800flowers.com, 1800flowers.com arranged to have another florist deliver better flowers.
