Doctor Referrals
BostonCentral provides a helpful list of physician referral services in the Boston metro area. They are very user friendly and enable you to search for a doctor by location, hospital affiliation, specialization and type. The service is also available via telephone.
When looking for a good primary care doctor, one approach is to ask friends and associates for recommendations. You can also get recommendations from a doctor you may have worked with in another city - or, you can use the physician referral service of a local hospital.
Pediatricians
Finding the right pediatrician is an important first step in your child's healthy development. You can often find good referrals from neighborhood moms, your hospital or birthing center, or your OB-GYN office. The Boston Metro area offer some of the finest medical facilities around. CPR & Safety Classes TEST
Boston area CPR & Safety classes differ in content, but many will cover infant CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), first-aid, the infant Heimlich maneuver, basic safety, and accident prevention. Some classes also discuss the appropriate ages to introduce different solid foods and explain which kinds are least likely to cause choking.
Birthing Classes
Birthing classes in the Boston Metro area are a great resource for expectant parents. Most new parents have a lot of questions about the labor and childbirth process and one of the best ways to prepare yourself is to enroll in a childbirth preparation class. Before you actually take a birthing class, you may want to consider which method of childbirth you are interested in using (i.e. Lamaze, Bradley, Water birth or Epidural).
Breastfeeding Classes
View a list of Boston area breastfeeding and lactation consultants. It has been proven, except in rare cases, that breast milk is the healthiest food for your baby. It contains immune factors that help protect against disease and the perfect ratio of water, fat, protein, vitamins, and minerals that your baby needs at any particular time. Becoming a parent is an amazing process . . . but there's an awful lot to learn. From hands-on baby advice and toddler discipline to managing your baby sitter and communicating with your spouse, the issues are many and varied for everyone with children.
