We need your “young scientist” to help us better understand how children learn by imitating their parents and peers. This research will ultimately help many others by informing the design of school curricula and the teaching of science.
We are currently conducting studies exploring various ways that young children:
• learn by watching other people
• learn the function of unfamiliar objects
• think about nature and the world
We respectfully seek the help of parents like you with children ages 2 to 10 yrs.
Participation in this study involves one or two brief play sessions where our young scientists get to do things like watch a movie, read a storybook or use a novel tool to plant a seed. Children find this to be a lot of fun!
Each session lasts 20 to 40 minutes. As a thank-you, your child will receive
• a special BU “young scientist” t-shirt;
• a book with your child’s name personally autographed by our research team.
We are conveniently located on the Boston University main campus near Kenmore Square. Free parking is provided. Our schedule is flexible. We are grateful for your participation and will do our very best to meet your scheduling needs!
Can your “young scientist” help us help others? If so (or even “maybe”), please call us at 617-358-1738 or email us at childlab@bu.edu. If you have questions, I encourage you to contact my Lab Manager, Laure Saint Georges, at 617-358-1738.
We look forward to hearing from you – and to meeting your “young scientist”!
