The Great Elephant Migration brings 100 life-size elephant sculptures to Boston's Commonwealth Avenue Mall from 8/8 through 9/13, stretching nearly a mile from Arlington Street to Fairfield Street.

The free, immersive outdoor exhibition invites families to walk among the herd while exploring themes of art, conservation, and storytelling.

Each sculpture is handcrafted by more than 300 Indigenous artisans in the Nilgiri Hills of southern India, made from lantana camara, a fast spreading invasive plant, and modeled after real wild elephants.

Beyond the main installation, smaller family groups of elephants will appear at Boston businesses and cultural institutions around the city, creating a discovery trail with interactive, QR-enabled storytelling.

Proceeds from the exhibition support Indigenous-led conservation efforts worldwide, with local beneficiaries including the New England Aquarium and the Boston Public Art Triennial.

This marks Boston's first large-scale public art installation centered on wildlife conservation.
