Come celebrate America’s independence in the most patriotic place in New England.

Boston Harborfest is a 37-year-old tradition held over Independence Day weekend celebrating Boston’s harbor and history. With hundreds of activities over Independence Day weekend at Boston’s best landmarks, this family-friendly event is the country’s largest Fourth of July festival.

This highly anticipated annual event will kick off on Thursday, June 28 at 11:00am with the Opening Ceremony featuring Mayor Marty Walsh cutting the official Boston Harborfest Cake at Faneuil Hall.

Fan favorite, Boston Chowderfest returns Sunday, July 1 from 12pm-3pm with samplings of the best chowder Boston has to offer.

Event Highlights

37th Annual Boston Harborfest Opening Ceremony | Thursday, June 28
Join Mayor Marty Walsh as he kicks off the 37th Annual Boston Harborfest and cuts the Official Boston Harborfest cake!

Harbor Fireworks | Saturday, June 30
Live music from Squeezebox Stompers and Sweet Harmony at Columbus Park will lead up to the highly anticipated Harbor Fireworks. At 9:00 PM, a fantastic show will take place in the inner Harbor and can be seen from any shoreline from Charlestown to the Seaport and East Boston! Fireworks show presented by Friends of Christopher Columbus Park, Wharf District Council and Boston Harbor Now.

Arts at Harborfest | Sunday, July 1
Calling local art buffs! Local artists will display and sell their work, curated by Artists Crossing, under the trellis in Christopher Columbus Park. From 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM, catch a preview of some of the artists from the September Boston Arts Festival. Click here for artist application.

Chowderfest | Sunday, July 1
Come taste clam chowder samples from some of the best local restaurants! Vote on your favorite and enjoy live music in Christopher Columbus Park.

Visit the Historic Freedom Trail®
Walk into History® and experience over 250 years of history! Explore Boston’s iconic red line and enjoy special programs and activities at 16 official Freedom Trail historic sites and tours led by 18th-century costumed guides!

Harborfest Special Tours and Attractions
Both indoor and outdoor family-friendly events will take place at Boston’s best historical landmarks over the 5-day period. Throughout the weekend there will be 100+ activities, attractions and specials!
