Cool sea air, a warm autumn sun and piping-hot “chowda.” Does it get any better than that?

At Mystic Seaport’s annual Chowderfest, visitors taste the best chowder anywhere, delectable seafood specialties, seasonal desserts and beer, wine and apple cider.

And there's more on the menu than great food. (Hey, this is Mystic Seaport!) Stroll through the village and enjoy live music by Finest Kind. Bring the kids to enjoy a “clammy” art project and story time in the Children’s Museum. Learn about late summer stars and the mariner under the Planetarium dome. Or, climb aboard our steamboat Sabino for a closer look at the colorful foliage. Tug boats Theodore Too and Pegasus will be docked along waterfront and open to museum visitors.

While you fill yourself with hearty New England fare, enjoy live music, activities for children and all of the sights and experiences of this sprawling maritime museum.

On the menu are a variety of chowders, additional seafood specialties, seasonal desserts and beer, wine and apple cider.

Cost for chowder and other items is in addition to Museum admission. A portion of Chowderfest proceeds benefit the Museum and the Special Olympics of Connecticut.

2-starMystic Chowderfest- EXPENSIVE
We just got back from the Chowderfest....save your money. You are first hit by the Seaport for admission (which I expected) then you go in and get hit for a dollar a ticket system for food. 4 one dollar tickets gets you a cup (6oz.) taste of chowder. I am a KCBS BBQ judge which of course does not make me an expert critic but I have tasted better chowders off the shelf made by (ugh.) Campbells Soup. I tried 3 different ones...the seafood , crab & apple and the New England...all were terrible, the crab was inedible. I am so suprised that restaurants put their names on these chowders. All the food was over priced, the wife had a Lobster roll...$15.00. I had the baked clam stuffed with chirizo sausage, it was good but cold and I got one clam for 6.00. The kids had a hot dog each for 4.00 a dog. My suggestion to the area restarants is to distance yourself from this event and maybe showcase your own food in a sreet fair setting. The Seaport was the only savings grace for the day
