Rethread Boston celebrates fashion, craftsmanship, and sustainability by bringing local artisans, designers, and makers together to lead public workshops on preservation, repair, reuse, and creative waste reduction.

Billed as Boston's largest-ever clothing swap, the festival invites attendees to update their fall wardrobe with finds curated by neighbors.

Starting at noon, guests can bring up to five pieces of clothing they want to give away to the swap, plus a few items to rejuvenate at stations for plant dyeing, silkscreen printing, mending and repair, and bioplastic jewelry making.

Attendees can take home as many clothing items as they like.

From 3:00pm to 6:00pm, the festival shifts to interactive presentations on the future of sustainable fashion, mushroom and fruit leather biotechnology, and textile solutions for keeping the city cool.

Live painters, original art exhibitions by local artists, and food from Legacy Cafe and The Sleazy Vegan round out the day.

The event is fun for all ages, including kids and calm, leashed pets, and is part of a City Hall Plaza Event Series supported by the Mayor's Office of Arts and Culture.
