During February school vacation, kids and families can enjoy hands-on activities, tours, and performances. Enjoy visits to our busy craft shops, hikes on the Woodland, Pasture, and River trails, visits with the Village animals in their shaggy winter coats, horse-drawn carryall rides, and much more.

The vacation week begins with a weekend ( February 17- 19) honoring and celebrating George Washington and other early American Heroes. Come join in a true party complete with dancing, singing, storytelling and even cake. You can vote for your favorite President in American History and try your hand at many hands on opportunities including making a paper militia hat or a toy thermatraup.

The fun continues through the rest of the vacation week. Daily from February 20 through the 25 the Village is bustling with activities. Opportunities abound for you to take part in these activities. Daily offerings include writing with a quill pen, sachet making, sewing a book and even planting a seed that you can bring home with you to nourish and remind you of your visit with us.

Every day you can go to the Freeman Farm and help with buttermaking, visit with the schoolkeeper in the District School or join one of our village performers as they share stories or songs from the past with you. If the timing is right they might even teach you an old time dance! For an additional fee we will offer more intricate projects in tin or blacksmith that will let you hand craft an item to take home.
