Norman Dello Joio (1913-2008), Scenes from the Louvre Dello Joio received an Emmy for his score to the 1964 NBC television special The Louvre.

He created the five-movement suite Scenes from The Louvre for wind band from this music, which was premiered in 1966.

The suite uses the music of Renaissance-era composers.

Portals (Movement I): Original Dello Joio material, title music from the documentary, featuring strident rhythms and bold 20th-century harmonies.

Children’s Gallery (Movement II): A light-hearted theme and variations based on Tielman Susato’s Ronde et Saltarelle.

The Kings of France (Movement III): Stately, based on themes by Jean-Baptiste Lully.

The Nativity Paintings (Movement IV): Uses the medieval theme In Dulci Jubilo.

Finale (Movement V): Uses the Cestiliche Sonata of Vincenzo Albrici, with Dello Joio adding his own harmonic flavor.

Karel Husa (1921-2016), Les Couleuers Fauves Les Couleuers Fauves was commissioned in 1996 by Northwestern University School of Music to honor John Paynter and premiered that year.

The French title reflects Husa's fascination with colors and the paintings of the Impressionists and Fauvists.

The work is in three movements: Persistent Bells, Ritual Dance Masks: Part 1, and Ritual Dance Masks: Part 2.

Barbara York (1949-2020), River of Stars River of Stars (2019) is not 'sweet and twinkly' but instead portrays vastness, movement through space, rotation, and awe.

York was inspired by photos of the Milky Way and Van Gogh's Starry Night, aiming for a more contemporary view of space and stars.

Aldo Rafael Forte (1953 - ), Impressionist Prints This major work for wind ensemble is inspired by six Impressionist and Post-Impressionist painters.

Monet: Calm, atmospheric overtones symbolizing Impression: Sunrise.

Degas' Ballerinas - The Star: A three-quarter time study with displaced accents in a waltz feel, featuring a rhythm based on “tip-pi-toe”.

Van Gogh's Storms: Very turbulent, inspired by Wheatfield with Crows.

Renoir's Elegance and Beauty: A calm contrast featuring the alto saxophone.

Seurat's Pointillism: Short notes or “dots” eventually 'come together,' inspired by the artist's technique.

Toulouse-Lautrec’s At the Moulin Rouge: Lively music recreating the raucous cabaret atmosphere of the Moulin Rouge.

Ching-Shan Chang (1996 - ), An Eternal Glimpse An Eternal Glimpse is inspired by the marble sculpture Water of Immortality by Taiwanese artist Tu-shui Huang.

The music aims to paint a vivid picture for the audience.

It begins with a majestic opening featuring an ascending two-note motif, echoing the sculpture's looking-upward gesture and radiating positivity, strength, and confidence.

The motif develops to convey various emotions, leading to a grand finale of victory.
