Last year, Old Sturbridge Village joined forces with producer/director Brian Clowdus to bring The Sleepy Hollow Experience to Old Sturbridge Village and sold out a full run of 31 shows. Recognized as one of the country’s top five Halloween plays by American Theatre Magazine, The Sleepy Hollow Experience is an immersive, outdoor theatrical experience that reimagines Washington Irving’s iconic 1820’s tale.
At The Sleepy Hollow Experience, guests will be ghoulishly guided through the Village’s countryside where they will encounter Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel, Brom Bones and quite possibly the Headless Horseman.
Please note that each outdoor performance is approximately 1.5 hours long, and requires standing and walking. Performances are rain or shine. If the evening is a rainout, a modified version of the The Sleepy Hollow Experience will take place in Old Sturbridge Village’s Stephen M. Brewer Theater.
Feast & Drink at Ichabod's Tavern
An hour and a half before each performance, guests are invited to join us at Ichabod's Tavern where they can purchase libations, chow, snacks and sweets. A meal of hearty soup or chowder and bread may also be purchased online in advance or at Ichabod’s Tavern the night of your performance. Libations and sweets will also be available for purchase during intermission.

The production is not recommended for children under the age of 10. While there is no blood and gore, the production is not for the faint-of-heart. Audience members describe the production as “scary, thrilling and haunting.”
