Join us for Grumpy’s 5k Cranberry Harvest Race! The annual run/walk family event honors Robert “Grumpy” Conway, a longtime A.D. Makepeace Company employee and nature-lover who passed away in 2010.

The run/walk takes place on November 4th, at 9 a.m. at the A.D. Makepeace Company headquarters in Tihonet Village, 150 Tihonet Road, Wareham. Grumpy’s 5K is a unique event as the route winds through a cranberry bog during harvest time, and walkers/runners can learn some “berry fun facts” along the way.

Proceeds will benefit the Cranberry Educational Foundation’s Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are given to local students who are either graduating from area high schools or students currently in college, with preference being given to those whose major are in the fields of agriculture or the environment.

The Foundation also supports other educational endeavors such as the STEAM bog project at Wareham Middle School.

There are three ways to register:
1. Register Online at grumpys5k.racewire.com
2. Advanced Registration and Number Pick-Up on Friday, November 4th from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Box Mill Hall
3. Race day during Registration/ Number Pick-Up from 7:30 to 8:45 a.m. at the Box Mill Hall on site

Each registrant will receive a t-shirt and will be able to enjoy a delicious buffet following the event. The first 200 registrants will also receive a complimentary pair of OOFOS shoes featuring the revolutionary OOfoam technology!

Unique cranberry-focused awards will be presented to winners in all age categories for both male and female participants. Grumpy’s incredible nature-inspired photography will be on display during the post-race festivities.

About the Cranberry Educational Foundation
The Mission of the Cranberry Educational Foundation is to introduce the American cranberry, cranberry farming and its heritage to the communities, neighbors and visitors in our area. This quality educational outreach will enrich understanding and provide strong relationships throughout our community.

About Robert 'Grumpy' Conway
Robert 'Grumpy' Conway, a 46 year employee of A.D. Makepeace Co. was a nature lover who passed away in 2010. Grumpy took photos of birds, plants, animals, endangered plants, and everything that one would find around cranberry bogs; and, used his photography as a way to teach bog owners, conservation groups, and people in general to take notice of the beauty of our area and the importance to protect that which is important to the environment.
