Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department invite families to the Franklin Park Golf Course Clubhouse for the ParkSCIENCE Children’s Festival.

The free Festival will provide fun during February school vacation week with indoor and outdoor activities including science experiments and activities, sledding and snow shoeing, arts, crafts, games, and more.

The lineup includes the New England Aquarium Tidal Pool where participants can handle and observe a wide range of live tidal pool animals from local waters, Science From Scientists activities and demonstrations, the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Plantmobile horticultural lab table and outdoor plant parts scavenger hunt, Rosalita’s Puppets, facepainting, refreshments provided by New England Coffee, and demonstrations hosted by iRobot and Science on the Street.

In addition, the L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery School will present their Snowshoeing Discovery Course, a fun and easy way to try out the sport with expert instructors who will lead an easy guided trek through Franklin Park. Snowshoes will be provided.

Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and winter or hiking boots. L.L.Bean will also be bringing the Bootmobile, a motorized replica of the famous L.L.Bean boot measuring 13’ tall, 20’ 6” long and 7’ 6” wide.
