The Boston College Eagles, Northeastern Huskies, Harvard Crimson and UMass Minutemen are all ready to compete for Beanpot glory.
The day will begin when the Boston College Eagles, led by former Spinners player and coach Mike Gambino, take on the Harvard Crimson for a 2:30 first pitch. They will be followed, with a scheduled 6:00 first pitch, by a match-up of the Northeastern Huskies and UMass Minutemen.
A number of former Spinners players have first attended the very colleges participating in the tournament, notably Jason Twomley who played for the Minutemen in the spring of 2005 at LeLacheur, returning later that summer as a member of the Spinners after being drafted by the Red Sox. Other former Spinners include Boston College's Jed Rogers, Northeastern's Dan Milano and Harvard's Zak Farkes.
Admission to the doubleheader is $5 for adults and $3 for students and children, which includes admission to both 9-inning games.
The LeLacheur Park concession stands will be open and manned by supporters of the UMass Lowell Riverhawks Baseball program, with all proceeds for concessions stands benefiting the team. Complimentary parking will be available in the dirt lot, directly across the street from LeLacheur Park.
