For 150 years, the Footlight Club, the longest running community theater in the US, has brought the residents of Jamaica Plain and nearby Boston neighborhoods together to share, expand and experience the joys of creating and presenting theater. In 'The Minutes', newcomer Mr. Peel comes back to Big Cherry's town council meeting after missing the last one, and learns that Mr. Karp has resigned.
He asks for the minutes of the previous meeting which appear to be missing.
The rest of the board members instead stress the importance of their primary responsibility, planning the next Big Cherry Heritage Festival.
Mr. Hanratty proposes a fountain that honors one of the town’s founding figures.
Mr. Peel continues to seek the missing minutes.
Over the course of this otherwise typical meeting, the missing minutes, Mr. Karp’s resignation and the town’s real history converge into an unsettling, provocative moment of truth for the board members and Mr. Peel.
