Boston Family Days 2026
Take the ferry to Cathleen Stone Island (formerly Thompson Island) for a fun-filled day of outdoor exploration and self-guided family-friendly activities.This special open day offers a rare opportunity to experience the diverse coastal habitats, salt marshes, and beautiful scenery of this historic Boston Harbor island.
Your adventure begins with a scenic 30-minute ferry ride across the harbor, departing promptly from the Seaport district.
Once onshore, families can explore the wilderness trails, participate in self-guided educational activities, and meet the organization's staff to learn about the island's conservation and youth programs.
The event is hosted by the Cathleen Stone Island Outward Bound School, a nonprofit organization connecting local students with life-changing outdoor education.
Please note that capacity is strictly limited to 50 passengers per trip, and advanced registration is required to secure your ferry tickets.

The ferry departs from the EDIC Berth 10 dock located in Boston's Seaport district. Public transportation via the Silver Line or local parking garages is recommended to reach the dock.
