The Chinese Culture Connection is a Boston based non-profit organization founded in 1986 to promote an understanding and appreciation for Chinese culture through educational programs in visual and performing arts for schools, libraries, museums and community centers.

Mission
The Founders believed that by promoting an understanding and appreciation for Chinese culture through educational programs in visual and performing arts, the organization would address positive aspects of all cultures. By celebrating Chinese culture with both Asian and non-Asian students, the Chinese Culture Connection promotes the value of heritage to American born Chinese so they may develop and preserve their sense of cultural identity AND encourage understanding, respect and communication among all cultural groups.

Education Programs
Language: Mandarin classes for children & adults

Arts: The Greater Boston area is blessed with a Chinese community with numerous artists and scholars who are keen to share their passion with others. They work with Chinese Culture Connection to offer workshops and lectures to schools, libraries, and corporations. Chinese Culture Connection can offer standard workshops or tailor special ones for particular groups.

All programs can be designed around a teacher-defined focus or interest of the group, and are available for one-time events, extended courses of study or a multiple workshop series.

Programs include:
• Classroom instruction in K to 12
• Therapeutic programs for health and rehabilitation centers
• Educational exhibits at libraries and museums
• Concerts, festivals and traditional holiday celebrations

Subjects include :
* Chinese Brush Painting
* Chinese Character/Calligraphy
* Chinese Cooking
* Chinese Dance and Movement
* Chinese Knots
* Chinese Opera Mask Making

Traveling Exhibits
A loan of artifacts and images from the Ella V. Bowering Collection has made possible the Exhibits Program and contributed greatly to Chinese Culture Connection’s visual impact. These exhibits, which capture the essence of Chinese culture through the use of text, images and artifacts, are free for public libraries.
