Main Library

The Main Library is located on Washington St. in Brookline Village near the intersection of Washington, School, and Cypress Streets. It is on a little hill next to the Town Hall, across the street from the Courthouse and Public Safety building (Police/Fire Headquarters).

From the West:
Route 9 heading toward Boston. Turn left at Cypress St. (Volkswagen dealership and Mobil gas station at intersection). At third traffic signal, turn right onto Washington St. Library is immediately on the left.

From the East (Boston):
Take Huntington Ave. (Route 9) outbound to Washington St. (Brookline Bank on the corner). Turn right onto Washington St. and get into the left lane. At the fork where Harvard St. meets Washington (Village Smokehouse restaurant on your right), bear left to stay on Washington St. The Library is almost two blocks further on your right.

Parking:
Metered parking is available along Washington St. and Cypress St. A small underground parking garage is accessible from the driveway between the Library and Town Hall; bear left at the bottom of the driveway.

Handicapped access:
Handicapped parking is available in the curved driveway in front of the Library. Note that there is no longer any handicapped access from the parking garage.

Coolidge Corner Branch Library

The Coolidge Corner Branch Library is located a block and a half from Coolidge Corner on Pleasant St., which is the street directly across Beacon St. from the Post Office.

From the West:
Take Beacon St. toward Boston. After the intersection of Harvard and Beacon take first left across trolley tracks and left on Beacon St. and immediately get into the right lane. Take first right onto Pleasant St. (You'll see the Boca Grande restaurant straight ahead as you begin to turn right). Library is a short distance on the right.

From the east (Boston):
Take Beacon St. west through Kenmore Square. You will pass a Holiday Inn at the corner of Beacon St. and St. Paul St (about 1.2 miles after Kenmore Square). After this intersection, the second right onto Pleasant St. (You'll see the Boca Grande restaurant straight ahead as you begin to turn right). Library is a short distance on the right.

Parking:
In addition to metered street parking, there are several parking spaces under the building in the rear. The driveway is to the right of the building as you face the front. Please do not park in the private lot directly across from the front entrance: you will be towed. The closest public lot is on John St. about two blocks away.

Handicapped access:
There is one handicapped space on the street directly in front of the main entrance. There is another handicapped space near the parking bays under the library, with a long ramp/sidewalk up to the street and the entrance. This space, however, is near the entrance to the meeting room in the basement, so it should be used for handicapped access to events.

Putterham Branch Library

Route 9 heading toward Boston. Turn right at Hammond Pond Parkway. At the Horace James Circle, take 3rd street (Newton Street). Follow street and bear right at West Roxbury Parkway. At Putterham Circle go halfway around the rotary to the continuation of West Roxbury Parkway. Library will be on left and the Temple Emeth on the right. The Library has a small parking lot.
