The New School of Music is a community music school located in Cambridge for students of all ages and levels. NSM offers programs in a non-competitive, student centered learning environment from professional musicians with a passion for teaching.
February Vacation Programs: Music Discoveries
Ages 5-10 years old
Join us for an action packed week of musical fun during February vacation! Children, ages 5-10, will discover the world of music through singing, imaginative storytelling, rhythmic games, and creative movement. Along with daily crafts and free play, it's sure to be a great vacation week! We invite you to a family & friends showcase at the end of the week to see what your children have been working on.

April Vacation Programs: Kids' Cabaret
Ages 7-14 years old
Kids work in a fun, up-beat and supportive atmosphere. Classes incorporate singing, acting, and dancing. Throughout the week, team-building is integral to the learning process and is explored through theater games, script-writing exercises, and improvisation. The week culminates in a Saturday afternoon performance of songs, scenes, and dance from the musical theater repertoire.

Summer Vacation Programs
Music Discoveries
Ages 5-10 years old
Students will discover music masterpieces through singing, imaginative storytelling, rhythmic games, and creative movement. Participants will also meet guest artists to hear live music and try an instrument or two! Along with daily crafts and outside play, it's sure to be a great vacation week! We invite you to a family & friends showcase at the end of the week to see what your children have been working on.
Session 1: The Classics
In session one, students will discover the classics of western symphonic music by great classical composers including Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi, and more.

Session 2: Jazz Masters
In session two, students will discover blues and jazz standards by Louie Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, and others.

World Music Explorers
Ages 5-10 years old
Students will explore world music through a series of daylong workshops that will include hands-on opportunities with instruments, dances, and songs from around the world, all led by NSM master musicians. Along with daily cultural crafts, games and outside play, it's sure to be a great vacation week! We invite you to a family & friends showcase at the end of the week to see what your children have been working on.
Session 1: Latin America
In session one, programming and activities will focus on the music & arts found throughout Latin America.

Take Mt. Auburn Street out of the square towards Watertown, heading a half mile west. Turn right onto Lowell St., just before the Mt. Auburn Hospital. Parklot on the left.
From Rt. 2
Follow Rt. 2 east past the Alewife T station and around the Fresh Pond rotaries (Rt. 2 becomes Fresh Pond Parkway.) Stay on Rt. 2/Fresh Pond Parkway, crossing Huron Ave. At the next stop light, turn left onto Brattle St. Take the third right onto Lowell St. Park in the lot on the right, just past the school entrance.
By Bus
Take the 71 Watertown or 73 Waverly bus to Mt. Auburn Hospital. Walk around the corner to
Lowell Street. The school will be on the left, number 25.
