Arctic Adventure at the EcotariumMuseum visitors definitely won't want to be left out in the cold by missing the newest and 'coolest' exhibit to arrive at the EcoTarium in Worcester.

Arctic Adventure is a 1,000 square foot travelling exhibition developed and produced by Science North, Ontario, Canada, that takes visitors deep inside the Arctic Circle, a place few will ever get to visit.

Arctic Adventure takes visitors to the fascinating (and cold!) world of the Arctic through interactive and artifact-based exhibit components and audiovisual experiences.

This exhibit explores the unique nature of our planet's polar regions and the life that they support. It also shares scientific research that's now underway there and examines the region's important role as an indicator of climate change.

From the icy landscape to animal survival, children and adults will discover the fascinating facts about the frozen North. Visitors can compare bear skulls, stack their own weight up against that of a polar bear, and learn about the status of polar bears from research scientists. They can examine specimens, test their knowledge of Arctic whales and other animals, observe the amazing adaptations of Arctic plant species, learn how icebergs form and more.

The exhibit's 10 interactive kiosks include:

Arctic Landscapes
Visitors use 3D stereo viewers to see the topography of the glaciers, mountains and communities of Ellesmere Island, the most northerly island in North America, and the world's tenth largest island

How big are Icebergs?
This kiosk tells the story of the incredible Arctic ice and icebergs. Visitors can manipulate an
iceberg model to reveal how much of an iceberg sits below the water level.

Polar Bear Research
Video segments tell the story of the polar bear life cycle and relate experiences of Canadian polar bear researchers and the current threats to polar bears around the world.

Polar Bear Lab
Visitors learn about the adaptations that polar bears have developed to survive in the North by comparing the skulls and claws of three North American bears - grizzly, black and polar.

Polar Bear Weigh Station
The ultimate weigh in! Visitors compare their weight to those of juvenile and adult
polar bears using a 'polar bear scale.'

Arctic Animal Quiz
Examining Arctic animal specimens, like a narwhal tusk and musk ox hair, visitors can test their knowledge of Arctic animal trivia.

Whales of the Arctic
Visitors discover the amazing adaptations and behaviours of the three true Arctic
whales: bowhead, beluga and narwhal using models and narrated videos.

Fly with the Arctic Tern
In a kiosk featuring 4 videos, visitors take the Arctic tern's annual journey, experiencing summer in the Antarctic, migration north and nesting in the Arctic. The Arctic tern is the only creature besides humans that visits both ends of the Earth.

The Summer Tundra
In a video kiosk, visitors discover unique Arctic plants that call the Boreal Forest and the treeless Tundra home.

Living in the Arctic
See real Inuit artifacts such as sun goggles, an inukshuk and an ulu knife-- and hear how technologies have evolved to assist with people's survival in the harshest conditions on Earth.

Arctic Adventure makes its debut at the EcoTarium on May 14 and runs through the summer, closing on September 4.

Arctic Adventure is a production of Science North, Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. The exhibit was made possible with the generous support of the Government of Canada program for International Polar Year and by the Government of Nunavut's Department of Culture, Language, Elders and Youth.
