A Massachusetts Cultural Council Gold Star Award winner, Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay is organized each year by local artists to celebrate the remarkable beauty of Maudslay State Park and showcase the talent of those living in the North Shore and Merrimack Valley area.

Featuring site specific work in the park, artists draw inspiration from a particular park feature, make a statement about nature, conservation or ecology, and/or reflect on this year's theme.

A map of the exhibit, photos, statements, and biographies of the artists are included in a catalog available at the main trail head throughout the show.

TIPS↑ top

  • Maudslay State Park is a gem and is easy to get to from the highway. The opening reception is a lot of fun as the those attending the event walk to each piece to hear from the artist. A cow bell begins and ends each presentation. Questions are encouraged which means.....count on it going past 5:00 pm.

4-starFun Outing at Maudslay
We were at this State park past weekend with our young kids. It was our first time to this State park and we have already tagged it as a place to come back to next summers. The trails are very beautiful to walk through and have many scenic spots. While we were there, the sculptures were still in process of being set up. While I think the sculptures were a bit amateurish, nonethless perfect for our 2 year old and 6 year old. They had a lot of fun with all the sculptures that were there. The theme 'Play' worked out well for them.
