Discover an island treasure in Essex Bay. The public is welcome to explore Explore the island, which is part of the Crane Wildlife Refuge and is home to a variety of animals and plants.

This island is also the site of the Choate family homestead, the Proctor Barn, the White Cottage, and the final resting place of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Crane. Boat transportation will be provided to and from Choate Island from the Crane Beach parking lot.

Recommended for families.

Shuttle boat runs all day; last boat returns at 2:00pm Meet at the Crane Beach Gate, Ipswich. Registration needed. (978) 356-4351, www.thetrustees.org.
