Sandy Bay Stables is a horse farm located in beautiful Rockport and offer horse back riding lessons for beginners on up, preferably starting at age 8. We have year-round open enrollment. Our instructors each have over a decade of experience and our horses are well-trained. We offer a safe, fun, and family-oriented environment.

The cognitive, psychological, physical, and social benefits of learning to ride horses at Sandy Bay Stables are many.

The physical benefits of horseback riding are numerous: the natural rhythm of the horse stimulates the rider, improving flexibility, balance, posture, muscle strength, gross and fine motor skills, and increased range of motion. The emotional benefits are such that the bond created between the rider and the horses helps the rider build trust, confidence, self esteem, and a feeling of independence. Mastery of a difficult task such as controlling a 1200 lb. animal enhances any child's self-esteem and confidence level as well as increasing their desire to take risks and responsibility. Children also practice self discipline while riding. Kids that learn to ride also obtain an increased level of empathy and sense of empowerment. They experience success in many ways in our supportive environment.

In addition the cognitive benefits are: improved judgment and critical thinking skills, increased vocabulary application and recall, improved attention and concentration, improved sequencing and planning skills among others.

Please check out our web site at: www.sandybaystables.com for more rates, details, and riding instructor's telephone numbers.

Terrific Experience, Mon 11 Aug 2008

My kids have been making fun memories and life time friends, furry ones too at Sandy Bay Stables in Rockport. The farm is educational, fun, and friendly!

Friendly, Educational And Social Horse Farm, Wed 19 Mar 2008

We were welcomed in like family! This farm has competitors that compete at the world championships, BUT they are all down to earth and not stuffy or uptight as some barns that compete can be like. They offer the students educational movie days, take them to clinics, horseshows, and for fun horse supply shopping days and all sorts of things/opportunities for students! They had an awesome haunted halloween barn party, yankee swaps at Christmas, cook-outs, and lots of fun times!

Instructors, Wed 19 Mar 2008

Sandy Bay Stables has very good teachers. They are highly skilled in dressage, hunter jumpers, and combined training. One of them did the whole dressage circuit from VT to Florida for many years, but has decided to 'retire' from the hustle and bustle of that and raise a family. Thus Sandy Bay has lucked out to have her on board part-time training and teaching students. We lucked out by having found this quality instruction in small town Rockport! We don't have to travel anymore for the quality lessons or pay the higher prices for them in other barns.

Riding Lessons, Fri 18 Jan 2008

Sandy Bay is an warm, friendly barn that offers a great lesson program. The instructors are very expereinced but are still able to connect with beginners of all ages. I would highly reccomend Sandy Bay Stables to anyone interested in horseback riding.

Sandy Bay Stables Is A Warm Place, Thu 17 Jan 2008

Sandy Bay Stables is a great place to learn to start off riding. Even though the instructors have taught high levels of competition, they are super patient and great with the kids and the beginners. They help the kids take risks all the while feeling safe. It's been a fabulous experience. It's warm and friendly farm. Well worth the trip every week!
