This event is designed for young people (ages 10 and up) and their families, the festival will showcase features, shorts, documentaries and student-made films from around the world.

From November 7-9, 2014, the Somerville Theatre and Tufts University will come alive in a celebration of imagination and creativity as the 2nd Annual Boston International Kids Film Festival gets underway.

Designed for young people (ages 10 and up) and their families, the festival will showcase features, shorts, documentaries and student-made films from around the world.

There is something for everyone here, with comedies, fantasies, and documentaries that cover tough topics with extraordinary sensitivity and imagination.

There are also workshops designed to inspire and empower young people to tell their own stories.

Some of the highlights include:

• Fighters Move Forward– A look at the Chavez Boxing Foundation, that aims to keep inner-city kids off the street through boxing.

• Horizon Beautiful - The story of 12 year old soccer player Admassu, determined to make it to the big time even when it means foiling the world biggest soccer boss.

Ethiopia, Switzerland;
• The Incredible Adventures of Jojo (and his Annoying Sister Avila) – A film designed to make parents squirm, this comic adventure features a boy who wakes up from a car crash deep in the woods, pulls his baby sister from the wreckage, plops her into his backpack, and attempts to get them both home alive.Directed by Brian Schmidt, USA ;
• Life on the Line - A year in the life of 11-year-old Kimberly Torrez as she and her family await the visa that will allow them to return to the United States after unforeseen circumstances trap them in the border-town of Nogales, Mexico.

• A Teen's Guide to Understanding and Communicating with People with Autism – This student-made documentary aims to help typically developing teens learn about autism and thus increase acceptance of their autistic peers.

• The Theft - Arjun and his mother Ira have just moved from the US to Mumbai.

One afternoon a large sum of money goes missing from Ira’s home, and a son’s loyalty to his father is put to test.

• Ulises y los 10,000 Bigotes – One morning 9-year-old Ulises sprouts an enormous mustache, setting of a series of extraordinary events that involve his family and friends.
