The day-long Spring Open House at the Old Schwamb Mill will feature a demonstration of the Mill’s operation as the country's only manufacturer of hand-turned, museum quality oval frames, offered by OSM’s professional artisan and wood turner David Graf, who works with the Mill’s original 19th century lathes.

He will be showcasing this work from 11 am to 2 pm.

Visitors will enjoy a musical performance by The Creek River String Band from 2 to 3 pm.

This six-piece acoustic group features guitar, fiddle, banjo, mandolin, accordion, and bass with three voices to deliver an energetic and eclectic mix of bluegrass, country, folk, old-time, Tex-Mex, Celtic, blues and rock.

And from 3 to 4:30 pm, OSM is pleased to host the Opening Reception for its second mosaic show, Mosaics at the Mill, II, presenting an artist’s talk by Lisa Houck and a special mosaic class called Refining your Personal Imagery/Improving your Technique, taught by Suzanne Baratta Owayda and Betsy Rodman, co-owners of Mosaic Oasis, and featured artist Lisa Houck.

Lisa works in watercolor, oil on wood, ceramics, mosaics and etching.

Her work has been exhibited widely, and is held in numerous public and private collections.

Mosaics at the Mill, II is organized and curated by Mosaic Oasis Studio & Supply, The Old Schwamb Mill, and Amy Marks, of Amy Marks Mosaics.

Amy is a mosaic artist who uses texture as the key element in her work.
