Over the years, the festival has grown significantly and has become South Boston’s most highly anticipated events, that attracts over 10,000 residents and visitors.
This year’s festival will once again feature “The Best of South Boston” including over 100 merchants, restaurants, artists and community organizations, which will fill East Broadway from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Live performances will take place on two stages providing festival goers with live entertainment throughout the day.
This year’s entertainment highlights include:
Thomas Park – Lead by front man Paul Eastman, who himself is a South Boston small business owner along with drummer Joe Tobias, will performing a wide range of music that includes classic rock, dance, R&B, and top 40.
Karen K and the Jitterbugs: Karen K & the Jitterbugs – are one of the most buzzed about bands for families and kids on the East Coast.
National honors include a highly-coveted Parents Choice Award; Best KidVid of 2014 for their smash hit video “(I Woke Up in a) Fire Truck;” appearances on CBS-NY and PBS; and regular play on radio stations around the country.
Adam Herbert’s Sinatra Band – Playing all the classics from Frank, Dean, and the rest of the Rat Pack.
This lineup of local musicians pays tribute to Ol’ Blue Eyes every Saturday & Sunday night at Lucky’s Lounge.
Ben Rudnick and Friends – have been bringing families, music and fun together in their own unique style from their first release, Emily Songs, in 2000 to their recent Love is a Superpower.
Boasting a high level of adventurous musicianship, their enthusiastic recordings and live performances seamlessly range from light folk, bluegrass, calypso, rock and even Irish Jigs.
With countless kudos to their credit, including SEVEN Parents’ Choice Awards, the band considers its main focus to be providing a common ground where all family members can, without compromise, enjoy a shared musical experience.
This is best exemplified in their live shows.
Happy Cactus – Fronted by a young South Boston singer, songwriter and guitarist Joe Weydt, – who has put together a great new band and has been performing the Street Festival for the past 2 years – This year Joe and his new band are going to blow you away!
There will also be performances by: The Peggy Wood’s School of Irish Step Dance, Miss Linda’s Dancers, Ultimate Self Defense.
And much more!
FREE – Children’s activities include face painters, balloon twisters, and street performers, Be sure to keep an eye out for a band of Pirates that we are told may be roaming the festival site throughout the day.
Enjoy a great selection of food options from some of South Boston’s favorite food establishments including; Larry J’s BBQ Café, Lincoln Tavern, Loco, Lucky’s Lounge, Miam Miam Macaronerie, Molly Moo’s, The Paramount, The Sausage Guy, Sal’s Pizzeria, and and others.
Alfresco (outdoor) dining will be available at the Boston Beer Garden, The Cranberry Café, Café Porto Bello, The Paramount, and The Playwright.
Shop until-you-drop – enjoy outstanding savings from local retailers including; Bringing Up Baby, Covet, Habit, Ku De Ta, Neatly Nested, Pretty Reckless, Southie’s Own, The Spot, and Wears + Wares, to name a few.
