Event Highlights

JUNE 30

Kids’ Day in the Park
Bring the kids to the Town Park and enjoy crafts and activities provided by Town of Amesbury youth recreation staff members.

Maplewood’s Third Annual Carnival
Find a spot on the sloping grounds of the Maplewood Care and Rehab Center across from the Middle School, and take part in an old-fashioned outdoor festival: dunk tank, popcorn, hot dogs, face painting, clowns, and more. Bring a picnic and enjoy the afternoon.

Theatre in the Open presents “Pinocchio Panto”
Back by popular demand!!! Join Newburyport’s Theater in the Open as it presents another rib-tickling panto: storytelling derived from ancient Italian improvisational shows and refined in 19th century Britain. If you missed last year’s Cinderella, you missed more than a glass slipper. This year’s show promises to be one of the highlights of Amesbury Days.

Block Party
Join your colleagues, friends and neighbors as we gather to celebrate Amesbury Days and support the 13th Annual Block Party, the largest fundraiser of the year coordinated by the Amesbury Chamber of Commerce & Industrial Foundation. Entertainment for kids of all ages including: Balloon Man, Clowns, Puppeteers; Pony Rides; Hay Rides and crafts.

July 2, 2011

Town-wide Yard Sale
Looking for some bargains? The Town-wide Yard Sale today is the perfect place to start. Dozens of households throughout Amesbury will be participating in this event, which combines the thrill of the hunt with a festive summer outing.

Cedar Street Open Studios
The artisans who work at the 14 Cedar Street studios will open their doors today to display and sell their creations.

Downtown Summer Bazaar
Stroll through the grounds of Amesbury’s historic Millyard and Downtown area for this colorful all-day festival featuring crafters selling their wares. Check back soon to see a list of confirmed vendors.

Downtown Sidewalk Sales
Come to Downtown Amesbury between 10am and 6pm and enjoy hunting for all kinds of bargains as the downtown vendors bring their goods outside for all to peruse.

Antiques Appraisal Day
The Amesbury Lions Club has announced that it will present its own local version of an antiques road show during the Amesbury Days celebration. The event, “An Evaluation of Your Treasures,” will be held at Amesbury Town Hall and features acclaimed appraiser/auctioneer John McInnis, gold and silver specialist Cindy Moran, plus a silent auction.

Summer Arts Festival
A juried fine crafts show and sale. Pottery, stained glass, puppets, wood-working, handbags, jewelry, tape collages, locally-mined crystals, and more.

Melting Pot Cookoff celebrates Polish cuisine
Join our guest judge, Marek Lesniewski-Laas, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland, as we shine the spotlight on Amesbury’s Polish community with a new culinary challenge: Kielbasa. No…we’re not asking you to make your own (although you get extra points if you do). Instead, we’re throwing out the challenge: Make something fabulous with kielbasa in it. A dip, a bread, an appetizer…hey, even a dessert. As they would say in Poland, “Coś idzie.”

Jumpin’ Juba in Concert
The perfect music for a summer night is coming to Amesbury Days, courtesy of Boston’s acclaimed Jumpin’ Juba. The many flavors of American blues music — New Orleans swamp-rock, classic boogie-woogie, folk, Memphis rock & roll, and a playful use of everything from calypso to country — are stirred into the band’s stew.

JULY 4

Get a bird’s eye view of Woodsom Farm courtesy of the ReMax hot air balloon. Donations requested to assist with Amesbury Days fireworks.
