Seventh Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon to Support Local Children of Fallen Troops
Family Friendly Event to be held December 11 at Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield

For the seventh consecutive year, The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation will host its Army-Navy Football Luncheon on December 11. The Ahern Family Charitable Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to help veterans and current U.S. military troops.

This year the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation has created a partnership with the Military Friends Foundation to establish Operation Santa-Massachusetts, a new program that supports children of local military families during the holiday season. The Army-Navy luncheon will take place on Saturday, December 11, noon at the Bostonville Grille in Lynnfield.

The Military Friends Foundation is a non-profit proudly serving Massachusetts National Guard, Reserve and Gold Star Families. The Foundation assists eligible Guard, Reserve and Gold Star Families in times of need. Operation Santa-Massachusetts will be administered through the Military Friends Foundation and will provide holiday gift cards to children of deployed National Guard and Reserves and to children who have lost a parent in the Iraq/Afghanistan war. Proceeds from the Army-Navy luncheon will directly support this new program.

“The families of the Massachusetts National Guard and Reserve have made their own sacrifices that often times go unrecognized,” said Sarah Keller-Likins, Executive Director of the Military Friends Foundation. “We are proud to stand with the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation this holiday season to bring Operation Santa-Massachusetts to the children of deployed citizen service members and of our fallen troops who may be experiencing their first holiday without a mother or father.”

In addition to the rivalry of the 111th Annual Army-Navy football game on Bostonville Grille’s large screen televisions, the event will also include a buffet luncheon, billiards, and a free commemorative coin for the first 500 entrants. During half time there will be a raffle, as well as a silent and live auction. Children attending the event will be given a bucket of game tokens for the Bostonville Grille’s arcade.

Several area celebrities are expected to attend the event including Boston Bruins alum Terry O’Reilly, former New England Patriot’s Steve Grogan and Max Lane, former NFL player Stalin Colinet, NECN meteorologist Matt Noyes, WBZ TV anchor Jonathan Elias, WKLB morning hosts John Willis and Lori Grande, Michele McPhee, Magic 106.7’s Tina Gao, WROR-WKLB-WTKK news and traffic reporter Hank Morse, ESPNBoston.com baseball writer Gordon Edes, and more.

To date the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation has raised more than $300,000 in helping to provide services to veterans, ranging from financial grants and scholarships to providing lodging for families if they would like to visit their wounded or injured loved ones. In addition to the Army Navy Football Luncheon, the Ahern Family Charitable Foundation hosts a St. Patrick’s Dinner Gala that supports local and national veterans’ assistance organizations. Among these organizations are Fisher House, Homes for Our Troops, Operation Homefront and New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans and The Military Friends Foundation.

The Bostonville Grille is located at 325 Broadway in Lynnfield, MA, on Route 1 just north of Downtown Boston. Doors open at 12:00PM and the football game kicks-off at 2:30PM. Tickets to the Seventh Annual Army-Navy Football Luncheon are $25 for adults over 21, $15.00 with a military ID, and $10 for kids. Tickets are available by calling 617-212-1508 or online at www.ahernfoundation.org.
