Room to Grow, a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of babies born into poverty in Boston, will host its annual Celebrating Mothers Breakfast on Wednesday, May 4 at 8:00 AM at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston.
Special guest and keynote speaker Lauren Baker, First Lady of Massachusetts, will share her perspective on how working with low-income children and their parents from the start can have a tremendous impact on creating strong communities and breaking the cycle of poverty.
Additional remarks by Sheriff Steven Tompkins of Suffolk County will highlight how early prevention among children in high risk environments can lead to systemic change resulting in long term benefits for the community overall.
The breakfast benefit will also honor Nia Moses whose three year old daughter will graduate from Room to Grow’s program this spring.
Nia will share her personal story reflecting on her own difficult childhood and conveying how, for her own daughter, she is making different choices, thanks in part to Room to Grow.
Being a part of the unique program has helped her become a confident parent with the tools needed to ensure a strong start for her daughter.

Room to Grow’s innovative program provides one-on-one parenting information and guidance, specialized referrals to community resources, and all the material items babies need during their first three critical years of development.
The services Room to Grow provides, with the help of generous support from individuals and corporations, gives the most vulnerable children in our community a strong foundation and the building blocks needed to help break the cycle of poverty.
