A fundraising gala; honoring Clara Wainwright, artist and founder of First Night, Boston. The orchestra will preview its newest piece for young audiences, John Adams: The Voice Heard ‘Round the World.

The gala will raise money to continue the Orchestra’s mission of bringing free classical music to Boston residents and visitors.

This will be the second season for the Orchestra’s highly successful Landmarks Festival at the Shell with free classical concerts presented every Wednesday evening beginning July 9 and running through September 10. The Orchestra will also present Concerts for Children and Neighborhood Concerts in Cambridge, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Quincy and Roxbury.

About The Boston Landmarks Orchestra:
The Boston Landmarks Orchestra was founded in January 2001 to perform free concerts celebrating historical, geographical and architectural settings. By presenting exceptional music performances in significant settings, the Orchestra hopes to foster a broad appreciation of classical music among diverse audiences. About Charles Ansbacher, conductor and artistic director:
Charles Ansbacher is the conductor and founder of the Boston Landmarks Orchestra. He also serves as the principal guest conductor of the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, the Sarajevo Philharmonic, and was named Conductor Laureate of the Colorado Springs Symphony when he stepped down as its Music Director. During the four years he lived in Vienna, Ansbacher led multiple performances at the Vienna State Opera, and with the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. He has conducted concerts with members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at their Orchestra Hall, the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, the Belarusian State Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Philharmonic, the Seoul Philharmonic, the Moldova National Philharmonic, the Moscow Symphony Orchestra, and dozens of other orchestras. President Bill Clinton wrote that Ansbacher is the “unofficial ambassador of America’s music” because of his frequent performances throughout Central Europe, Middle East, Africa and South America. Ansbacher records with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra and the Moscow Symphony Orchestra.

In addition to his conducting career, Ansbacher’s interest in design and architecture led him to serve on the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Committee of Design for the new Denver Airport; and, as a White House Fellow, he co-chaired with the U.S. Department of Transportation Task Force on the use of design, art, and architecture in transportation. Currently, Dr. Ansbacher remains an active board member of numerous community-based nonprofit organizations.
