Singer/Songwriter Gene Stamell will bring his fun and exuberant music back to The Discovery Museums for a special outdoor evening concert. This is a great event for both children and families. From 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm, bring along a picnic dinner and enjoy a concert by local favorite, Gene Stamell.
You can discover the science of making your own fresh fruit slushy and participate in a special scavenger hunt. There will be a hunt for younger children at Children’s Discovery and a hunt for those in Grades 1 through 6 at Science Discovery focused on everyday chemistry.
We will also be collecting donations for the Acton Food Pantry. The Pantry serves 135 families per week and has seen a significant increase in families with babies and younger children. All non-perishable items are welcome but the following are sorely needed: canned tuna fish, canned beans, spaghetti sauce, bagged white rice, pasta, canned fruit, powdered milk, milk-based Similac formula and diapers. Sponsored by the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation and Welch’s.
To celebrate Gene’s return, the Museums will be open for play, with free admission for members and $5 per person for non-members (family maximum of $20). If you ever wanted to explore the Museums at night, here’s your chance!
Gene Stamell has been performing for over 25 years for children and families throughout Massachusetts. A resident of Arlington, Gene has taught third grade in the Carlisle school system for years. Visitors to The Discovery Museums will no doubt remember Gene’s enthusiasm at his past concerts, complete with puppets, audience interaction, and songs dedicated to Gene’s favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox. Whenever Gene visits the Museums, a fun time is always guaranteed.
