Each year, Lexington marks the beginning of the holiday season with a festive night of activities in the downtown. The Lexington Chamber of Commerce organizes an array of musical performers (both indoors and outdoors). Merchants stay open late and offer various discounts, refreshments, raffles and give-a-ways. Santa arrives (aboard a town fire truck) in Depot Square around 6:30 p.m. for the holiday tree lighting and to give candy canes out to all attending children. Many downtown restaurants have special offers as well.
