Remote and isolated, uninhabited and forbidden, Clipperton Atoll is located in the Pacific Ocean almost 800 miles off the coast of Mexico and is a French protectorate.

The island was eventually named after John Clipperton, a British pirate.

It is claimed that he made it his hideout early in the 18th century so he could attack passing ships.

Since World War II the island has been uninhabited.

Under special authorization from the French Government, we bring you an account of the scientific mission to track the migratory pattern of sharks as well as document the surrounding reef and the wildlife, both above and below, that depends on it.

Join us for views of the wild inhabitants, from birds to sharks, of this remarkable place.

Location-themed buffet dinner and lecture or lecture only.

Pre-registration required for dinner by 5pm Tuesday, March 7.
