During the weekend of May 1-3, The Rivers School Conservatory presents its 31st Annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young. The Seminar is a three-day festival of concerts and presentations featuring faculty and student performers, guest artists and nearly two dozen composers from the Boston area.

Among the composers will be commissioned composer Eric Sawyer, professor of music at Amherst College, who will premiere several compositions, including a children’s piece based on Lemony Snicket’s The Series of Unfortunate Events and the 2009 seminar commission The Mountain Echo. The seminar kicks off Friday at 7:30 p.m. with a faculty recital and continues throughout the weekend.
