About DCR Martini Shell
The DCR Martini Shell was built in 1960 as an outdoor theatre and is named in honor of Francis D. Martini, a US Army private who died in combat in World War II. Located in Hyde Park, the shell overlooks a 5.6 acres park, shaped as an elongated triangle situated between Truman Parkway and the Neponset River to the west.

The Martini Shell Park features:

outdoor amphitheatre
a network of walking and bicycling paths
two tennis courts
one basketball court
benches and picnic tables
canoe launch to the Neponset River
viewing platform overlooking the Neponset River
paved parking lot for 40 cars
chemical toilets available in summer

DCR Moynihan Recreation Area on the east side of Truman Parkway offers additional recreational facilities including:
· a spray deck
· a reservable ballfield
· playground
· picnic tables and benches
· one basketball court
· two tennis courts

DCR Francis D. Martini Shell Park is located at 1015 Truman Parkway in Hyde Park, MA. From Route 93, take exit 2B to Route 138 north. Follow Route 138 north for 1.5 miles and turn left onto Neponset Valley Parkway. Follow Neponset Valley Parkway one mile and turn right at the first set of lights onto Truman Parkway.

DCR Martini Shell is one half mile ahead on the left after the Stop and Shop retail complex. Reverse direction after the ball fields to access the parking lot on Truman Parkway southbound.

Public Transportation

For public transit take the Red Line to Ashmont Station. From Ashmont Station take the Mattapan trolley to Mattapan Square. From Mattapan Square take the #24 bus to the Wakefield Avenue and Truman Parkway stop. A pedestrian crosswalk provides access to the Martini Shell across the Parkway. Paths alongside Truman Parkway provide pedestrian and bicycle access to the site, as well as connections to the larger network of trails
along the Neponset River.
